Download Time Calculator

Enter a file size and your connection speed to work out how long the transfer will take.

How it works

The file size is converted to bits. Then it's divided by your connection speed in bits per second to get the time in seconds. That number is then shown in an easy-to-read days/hours/minutes/ seconds format.

FAQ

Why might my real download take longer than this estimate?
This works out the time at your connection's full rated speed. Real downloads are usually a bit slower. That's because of protocol overhead, other traffic sharing the connection, the server's own upload speed, and Wi-Fi conditions. Treat this as a best case, not a guarantee.
Does this account for the difference between bits and bytes?
Yes. By default, file size is entered in bytes (KB/MB/GB/TB) and connection speed in bits per second (Mbps, etc.), matching how each is normally advertised. The calculator converts between them for you.
