Hosts send everything off their subnet to a single default gateway. If that router fails, a second router next to it doesn't help unless the hosts can use it without being reconfigured. First-hop redundancy protocols make that happen. This course explains how they work and configures HSRP on Cisco IOS.
What's in this course
